We Do Legal
Your Conveyancer Should Do More Than Wait for Settlement Day.
At Lazarus Legal, we don’t just shuffle paperwork and hope for the best. Your conveyancer comes with legal backup from the get-go because contracts change, deadlines creep up, and deals rarely run as smoothly as everyone promises. When things get tricky, we don’t handball you to a lawyer. We’re already on it, keeping your deal steady, your risks covered, and settlement day exactly where it should be.
Conveyancing That Gets Contracts Right, Deadlines Handled, and You Settled Without Surprises
With Lazarus Legal, you’re not just getting a conveyancer ticking boxes, you’re getting a team that explains the fine print, keeps your deal moving, and steps in when legal issues appear. From contract review to settlement, we make sure nothing gets missed and nothing slows you down.

For Clients Who Expect More Than a Conveyancer Just Ticking Boxes
Most property deals don’t fall apart because of major disputes, they fall apart because of the details no one warned you about.
Like a sunset clause that lets a developer delay handover by months. Or a special condition buried in the contract shifting unexpected costs onto you. Or your bank running late, and because no one flagged the risk, you’re now paying penalty interest for every day past settlement.
We’ve seen buyers lose flexibility because of easements they didn’t understand. We’ve seen sellers rushed into accepting last-minute contract changes just to get the deal done.
And we’ve seen too many people learn too late how unforgiving “time is of the essence” really is.
That’s why Lazarus Legal approaches conveyancing differently.
We review contracts like lawyers, because we are lawyers.
We know where deals typically go wrong, and we make sure yours doesn’t.
If a clause needs challenging, we do it.
If the other side tries to move the goalposts, we push back.
And if a legal issue appears before settlement, you won’t be told to find a solicitor, we’re already handling it.
We don’t overcomplicate property deals.
We keep them simple, by staying ahead of the things that make them complicated.
Sincerely,
Mark Lazarus
Director, Lazarus Legal
Lazarus Legal was built because we kept seeing clients after things went wrong, contracts misunderstood, deadlines missed, and deals collapsing over details no one flagged.
How We Help You Control the Deal
Walk Us Through the Property and Your Play
We’ve been on the inside, leading legal for global brands like Monster Energy, negotiating across borders, and managing timelines that don’t pause for red tape. That shaped how we show up now: responsive, accountable, and across the details when timing matters most. We work like we’ve been in your seat because we have.
Let’s Be Clear on Your Bottom Line
Every smart deal starts with knowing when to walk away. We’ll make sure we’re aligned on what’s non-negotiable, so we’re not just accepting terms for the sake of moving forward.
Connect Us with the Other Side
Introduce us to the agents, brokers, or solicitors involved. We’ll manage the flow, keep timelines tight, and ensure no one else sets the pace of your deal.
We’ll Review, Adjust, and Position You to Sign When It’s Right
We’ll tidy the contract, fix the conditions, and make sure the deal reflects what you agreed not just what was drafted. When it’s ready, you’ll know.
Two Decades of Making Sure Property Deals Don’t Fall Apart

How much does conveyancing cost?
In Australia, conveyancing costs typically range from $800 to $2,500 for standard property transactions. However, pricing depends on the complexity of the deal, the type of property, and whether you’re engaging a basic conveyancer or a legal firm offering comprehensive protection.
At Lazarus Legal, our conveyancing service is priced at $2,750. While this is above budget conveyancing rates, it reflects a different level of service, where legal oversight, contract negotiation, and risk management are built in.
Cheaper conveyancing often covers only the basics with extra fees added when complications arise. We structure our pricing to ensure that when deals get complex (and many do), you’re not exposed to hidden costs or legal gaps.

What does a conveyancer do?
A conveyancer manages the legal and administrative work required to transfer property ownership from one party to another. This includes reviewing contracts, conducting title searches, ensuring compliance with state regulations, managing settlement processes, and handling the exchange of legal documents and funds.
But a good conveyancer doesn’t just process paperwork, they protect you from common risks like hidden contract conditions, outstanding property debts, or settlement delays. Whether you’re buying or selling, a conveyancer ensures the transaction is legally sound, deadlines are met, and you’re not exposed to avoidable legal or financial issues.

Do I need a conveyancer to buy a house?
Legally, you’re not required to hire a conveyancer to buy a house in Australia but navigating a property purchase without one is risky. Property contracts are complex, and missing a clause, deadline, or compliance requirement can lead to serious financial consequences, including loss of deposit, penalties, or even a failed settlement.
A conveyancer ensures your contract is reviewed properly, searches are conducted, and all legal obligations are met before, during, and after the transaction. They also act as your representative, liaising with banks, agents, and the seller’s legal team to ensure a smooth process.
While DIY conveyancing is possible, it’s generally recommended only for those with legal expertise, most buyers engage a conveyancer to avoid costly mistakes.

Is a conveyancer a lawyer?
No, a conveyancer is not a lawyer but they are licensed professionals qualified to handle property transactions. Conveyancers specialise in the legal processes involved in buying and selling property, but their scope is limited to conveyancing tasks.
A lawyer (or solicitor), on the other hand, can perform conveyancing but also provide broader legal advice. If a property deal involves disputes, complex contractual issues, or legal risks outside standard procedures, a conveyancer must refer you to a lawyer.
Some law firms, like Lazarus Legal, offer conveyancing services with legal oversight, giving clients the benefit of both. This ensures that if complications arise, you’re already covered by legal expertise.
